I have my MBP for more than 4 month and today I found out that there is a forward delete (⌦) :)

Symbol Key Description
delete This is the delete key at the upper right corner. It works like backspace in Windows and Linux. I’m a Mac-Newbie so I expected a forward delete first
Fn+⌫ ⌦ is not available on laptops. You can emulate it on a MacBook with Fn+⌫

Men, why it took me so long?

Do you use Mac OS X Leopard or above? Do you know the shortcut Apple-? (Command-?)
Give it a try. It will increase your productivity for sure.

Currently I’m using a windows system at work and think about switching to a Mac. Some peers are using Macs already. In a pair programming session I stumbled about the fact, that you can not navigate directly to the menu entries. Pressing Ctrl-F2 and then using the cursor keys or start typing isn’t to best choice. I remembered that Neal Ford told me (The Productive Programmer) that you can reach any menu entry by pressing Apple-?. Next start typing the name (or parts) of the entry you are looking for. Select the one you’re looking for. Press Enter and you’re done.

Screenshots will follow after I bought me a Mac:)

I like my keyboard and try to avoid using the mouse to much.
To open a command shell I used to press Alt+F2, type term, select gnome-terminal and press enter. Mouseless but a lot of steps. So I looked around and found that I can configure shortcuts on my own.

I need to launch gconf-editor and go to apps > metacity > global_keybindings:

gconf-editor

Now opening a command shell is as easy as pressing Super+S whereby Super is the Windows Key on my Asus.
